Site Under Construction! Thank you for your patience - Maren
My primary goal is to restore and maintain comfort in healthy, barefoot hooves, and I recognize that this is deeply connected to a horse's body, diet, and environment. I am happy to guide you and your horse through the transition to being barefoot, and when barefoot isn't possible yet, I utilize hoof boots, casting, composite shoes, and support options like hoof armor. Please see below for a list of the services I offer.
I understand that many horses struggle to stand perfectly still for a full trim due to discomfort, pain, age, past trauma, or limited training. I am happy to work at your horse's pace, prioritizing cooperation over force. If you are looking for someone to hold onto a leg, "discipline" your horse, or force a trim through any means necessary, I am not the right practitioner for you.
To ensure my hoof care approach is effective, I maintain all of my clients on a strict 4-to-5-week trim cycle; rehab and training horses may require an even more frequent schedule. Because research shows that even healthy, non-pathological hooves begin to show signs of distortion by the three-week mark, a consistent and frequent trim cycle is the most effective way to maintain long-term hoof health and facilitate successful rehabilitation.
These appointments are designed for new clients and are scheduled for a longer duration to allow for a comprehensive hoof and movement assessment. During this time, we will discuss your horse's diet, movement, and lifestyle, document their current hoof health with intake photos, address any concerns, and establish a personalized hoof care plan moving forward.
For horses I do not see on a regular 4-to-5-week cycle, an Initial Trim and assessment are required to re-evaluate your horse's current needs and ensure they are back on a proper maintenance schedule.
Maintenance trims are designed for horses with minimal to no major hoof pathologies and are maintained on a consistent 4-to-5-week (or shorter) trim cycle. These appointments are reserved for established clients, ensuring we can stay proactive in monitoring your horse's ongoing care and addressing any concerns as they arise.
During these visits, we will continue to evaluate your horse's evolving needs, discuss diet and management requirements, address any new issues, and capture progress-tracking photos as needed.
For Hoof Care Consults and rehabilitative trims, I charge an hourly rate of $150. This rate allows us to take a deep, comprehensive dive into your horse’s evolving needs, providing the flexibility for breaks between hooves as required while respecting the additional time commitment for both parties.
Rehab trims include in-depth photo progress tracking (when the horse is able to stand comfortably), movement assessments, and detailed discussions regarding diet, lifestyle, and potential hoof protection or treatment options.
Rehab and consult appointments can also be scheduled alongside your veterinarian to facilitate a collaborative care plan, including trimming before or after X-rays and other specialized procedures.
When full-time barefoot isn't an option, hoof boots are one of my most recommended solutions and can be used for riding, as well as 24/7 turnout and rehabilitation as needed.
I carry a hoof boot fit kit featuring various boot styles, and I am happy to help you find the best fit for your horse. In addition to hoof boots, I offer other non-shoe protection options, such as hoof armor (a thin Kevlar coating for added durability), as well as polyester hoof casts, glue-on SuperFast shoes, and more.
I offer composite shoeing services for my clients when necessary. While my preference is always to support a horse in being barefoot, I recognize that factors such as workload, movement restrictions, past hoof damage, and rehabilitative needs can make additional support incredibly beneficial.
I provide both nail-on and glue-on composite shoeing services tailored to your horse's unique requirements. We can explore various styles, packing options, and configurations to best meet your individual horse's needs. Please inquire for detailed pricing. Base rates are as follows:
Fronts: $150+ (excluding shoes/materials)
Full-set: $220+ (excluding shoes/materials)
