Supplies:

450g Extra-Strength Destin Diaper Cream (40% Zinc Oxide) 

½ Cup Zinc Oxide Powder

20 Drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil

5-20 Cotton Balls (size dependent)

Optional:

Additional essential oil blends for targeted treatments

Step 1:

Transfer Destin into a large bowl or container for mixing 

Step 2: 

Add your Zinc Oxide Powder and Essential Oil(s) to the Destin, and mix thoroughly 

Step 3: 

Shred cotton balls to achieve cotton “fluff”. Mix the shredded cotton into your Destin base, ensuring that all the fluff is fully coated. Continue to add more cotton until the desired texture is reached - then add more to be safe. 

Usage Instructions:

Thoroughly clean your horse's hoof, including the collateral grooves (on either side of the frog) and, importantly, the central sulcus (the middle of the frog). For deep infections, be careful as the central sulcus is often very sensitive. 

Use a hoof pick, brush, water, and/or a mild chlorhexidine mixture to flush all the dirt from the sulcus. Take a blob of packing and carefully stuff it *into* the sulcus crack. The goal is to fill the sulcus with packing to prevent dirt from entering, add a small amount of pressure to ensure fresh, healthy frog growth, and hold the treatment in place. 

These ingredients are non-caustic and should not cause discomfort. If your horse is sensitive from prior product experiences or from the general discomfort of cleaning the sulcus, positive reinforcement is an excellent way to ensure a better experience.
